Atlantic Union will be performing this winter at the Ship Pub and is available for concerts and private events. During the summer and fall of 2006 Atlantic Union has taken a break from performing to focus on creating new material for a planned recording of songs based on stories from the shores of Newfoundland.

THE WHOLE DANCE RELEASED MARCH 5th

On Saturday, March 5th, Andrew, Dan and Sally released "The Whole Dance" in an evening concert at the Gower Street United Church in St. John's.

Susan Rubin and Pete Myers, photo by Rick WestThe event was a big success, with about 120 in attendance. We want to thank Susan Rubin, Clare Goddard and Pete Myers for doing the door, Rosemary Ash of Cafes in the Cove for providing food, Wallace and Denise Hammond for setting up lights and sound equipment and Rob Brown for running our sound. Rick West and Garth Fletcher took digital photos and we taped the whole thing complete with authentic thumps, missed notes and the sound of the center microphone toppling slowly into Dan's instruments. The concert featured two sets of music with all the tunes from the new CD performed live plus some new songs, as well as door prizes that included a miniature green thing (accordion) a cookbook with recipes for beef stew, a stuffed toy version of Mr. Fox and photos of the band in rehearsal.

We want to thank all the local broadcasters and writers who have helped us publicize and launch our new baby, especially Francesca Swann, Angela Antle and Sherry Vivian at CBC, Kevin Kelly at the Herald and the staff at VOCM, with a special thanks to Michelle at the Town Cryer for running an article about the band's release concert. We also want to thank Denis and the MIA and our funders for their support:

Arts Council of Newfoundland and Labrador
City of St. John's

Copies of The Whole Dance are available through this website as well as from Fred's Records and O'Brien's Music in St. John's.

We are seeking friends far and wide to assist us with contacting record outlets wherever they live, harassing CBC hosts and other sundry tasks. If you would like to be part of our "street team" please send us an email. We already have found co-conspirators in Toronto, British Columbia, California, Washington State, Athens (Greece, not Georgia), the United Kingdom and Down Under in Australia.

Over the coming weeks Atlantic Union will be appearing on CBC's Musicraft (at 4:35 PM on the AM channel on Sunday, March 13th and earlier in the day on FM), then on OZ-FM's Homebrew (the following Sunday morning) and some time
soon we will be on Rogers Television on Out of the Fog.

Thanks for checking in here, and for supporting us. Send us an email, eh? Couldn't do it without you.
